Shell Shock

Standing outside of Heaven's door
Looking back at my lifeless form
A sadness creeps into my heart
Leaving this shell Spirit called home

Jubilation vies with my fear
Anger and regret are there too
Knowing it will decay with time
Till all that's left is the bone

Where will memories be resting
As this shell shrivels and decays
Will they be held in all the hearts
Of all those I've touched and cherished

The door swings open before me
My names being read from His book
I'm joyful to say I'm still me
It's only my shell that perished
