The Seedy Side
Picked from a family of six
Chose to help with what He had planned
I’m living on the seedy side
And giving God a helping hand
My siblings all have their own homes
They sneer at my one bedroom flat
They have bank accounts and nice cars
But that’s not where my hearts at
I enjoy smiles on faces
Of families I house and feed
Lending a shoulder where needed
Each day planting at least one seed
Teaching them all with the Lord’s love
Turning sorrow to hope and joy
Tears disappear like sweet magic
For almost every girl and boy
There are some I can’t seem to reach
And for them I have special prayers
I know He’ll lead them to someone
Who will convince them that He cares
I’m asking you all to join me
In prayer for the needy out there
Dig in your cupboards and basements
Show the lost that you too can share
A coat with a hole in it’s sleeve
Can so easily be mended
The lonely lost soul on the street
Against the cold now defended
Canned goods, old pots, pans, and dishes
Never used sitting on the shelf
These all help heart, soul, and spirit
Meals in a belly certain wealth
Kindness will draw those seeking souls
And open hearts to the Lord’s touch
If all worldwide gave just one thing
To others it could mean so much
I’m asking you all to join me
On what they call the seedy side
Let’s give from His heart within us
And pray they let God be their guide
