Footprints And Breadcrumbs

I’ve had a few thoughts lately
All crowding into my mind
Now I’m finally sitting down
To think it out see what I find

Memories of trips to the beach
And children’s footprints left in sand
Larger footprints left beside these
I see part of what God has planned

Next are memories of the ducks
And the children that fed them bread
Enticing them with crumbs of food
And nearer to them they were led

I see children that are swimming
Having faith thus having no fear
Just knowing and always trusting
That their parent is always near

I see myself as a child
Walking with Jesus hand in hand
I see His the larger footprints
That lie beside mine in the sand

The ducks are those less fortunate
We the children bringing His word
Sharing with them God’s promises
Telling all those who haven’t heard

I’m one of the children swimming
Having faith my Father is near
Now that I have sat and pondered
Memories meanings become clear
