2002 vs 2001

A new year is coming
What happened to the last
I'm not sure I'm ready
To leave it in the past
 
I made some new friends
And buried some old
I felt the sun on my face
And the sting from the cold
 
I heard voices raised in laughter
Echo's of sobbing in grief
I saw spring bring forth new buds
And winter turn brown each leaf
 
I have seen wars begin
And I have seen peace sought
I have seen belief in God
I've seen those who do not
 
This new year that's coming
Will it offer me more
I'm on my knees praying
As I close last year's door
