Light A Candle

There’s a light flickering in the distance-
I wonder whom it burns so brightly for?
Could it be to light someone’s way back home?
Or possibly for the sick child next door?

Is it for a birthday stuck in a cake?
To show angels the way to the needy?
Is it a reminder of prayers to God?
It’s used for all of these things in-deedy!

Let us all light candles for the many-
Light one for soldiers off fighting the war.
Another for the sick and the lost lambs…
One for the spirits who hold hope no more.

Keep a candle burning in your window-
Bless it with a prayer to your loving Lord.
Light a candle as soon as the sun sets…
I’m telling you it sure won’t be ignored!
