Teddy bear
I’ve always wanted a teddy bear
So I made one up in my mind
I made him big, soft, and cuddly
So that he’d be easier to find
You won’t believe what’s happened
Can you imagine my surprise
When a real life teddy bear
In his place materialized
He shares my love for backgammon
(Beats me nearly every game!)
I’m learning as I play him
As next to his skill mine is lame
He encourages me to be myself
(Which he makes so easy to do)
Accepting me just as I am
The way I accept him too
He brings laughter to my lips
When tears are in my eyes
With his quick sense of humor
Away each tear flies
We’ve shared thoughts and feelings
With honesty and no lies
As we battle on the game board
Its amazing how fast time flies
I get him on a cribbage board
(And put him in his place!)
No matter who’s winning, who’s losing
There’s a smile on both our face
Yes my teddy bear is special
I hug him at least once a day
What magic words make my teddy bear real
“Can Crusty come out and play?”
