My Knight

Can you possibly control your mind
Or your heart while you're asleep
If you have learned the secret to this
It is a secret I hope you forever keep

My knight invades my dreams at night
He tells me stories of dragons he slays
You see I really don't mind his coming
But I do wish he's also haunt my days

He rides in on a big black muscled steed
The shine from armor competes with the sun
He has chocolate brown eyes and hair to match
His gallantry of manner can't be out done

He dismounts his steed helmet under his arm
And sweeps me a proper court bow
Taking my hand he requests a walk in the gardens
And if I would like we could go right now

He slows his pace to walk beside me
And my heart beat gives a miss
Blooms of every color vie for attention
Each petals face raised for the sun's kiss

Out of sight of all the many castle eyes
He enfolds me in arms that feel like home
He gently kisses the hollow of my neck
And forgotten are the hours I've spent alone

Feather kisses then cover my eyes
And my heart's marching double time
With further advances he whispers poetry
Of which there's beauty in every line

At the moment that he takes possession
A radiant rainbow appears over head
The colors are brilliant behind my eyes
Varying colors of orange, yellow, blue, and red

We gallup along the rainbow's hues
In a world where two are now one
With the song of love in our hearts
We give to each other in joyous abandon

The rainbow slowly fades as does our passion
As my knight holds me close to his heart
It isn't mentioned as we drift off to sleep
That come the dawn he must depart

My dreams are full of my gallant knight
And making love as never before
I wake in the morning missing his touch
My bed is cold and I'm alone once more
