See The Child
See the child with tear streaks on it's face
The one whose shoes have no lace
See that thing held within it's arms
The child fell for it's silent charms
A teddy bear it use to be
Now holds the child's security
The teddy bear still has magic
Makes the child's life less tragic
Of each other more than fond
They share a common bond
Unwanted tossed to the street
Afraid of the dark and sleep
A burned out house their home
No one knows they're left alone
Scavenging for food each day
This child has no time for play
Whys this child on it's own
Who would leave one so young alone
A daddy killed off in the war
There's no hugs from him no more
Mama left with her last date
Leaving her child to this fate
Dirty clothes and empty tummy
No one to wipe the nose that's runny
No kisses no hugs no correction
Leads this child in the wrong direction
Lying and stealing it picks up fast
Day by day living as if it's the last
Before this child gets very old
If only the truth be told
Turns cold with a heart of steel
Trust, honesty, and love no big deal
Who will change this child's fate
Who will care before it's too late
For this child we should all fight
To bring out of the darkness, into the light
