MAMA
I see you across the room
There’s a smile upon your face
And I know I must be dreaming
As you’ve died and left this place
I see orange tipped flames behind you
I see the wild reflections in your eyes
My heart again cries out in anguished grief
You didn’t know Jesus before your demise
Why must you come and haunt my dreams
Every year just as Mother’s Day arrives
I tried to introduce you to our Lord
But you shot down every one of my tries
I hear you laughing as if from a distance
The flames around you no longer warm my skin
Your evil whispers no longer reach my ears
I’m protected by Jesus who died for my sin
Mama remember I’ll love you always
Tho’ I know it won’t ever be returned
I’m going to miss you in God’s kingdom
So far away from what you have earned
The kingdom of heaven is coming soon
And my home there I won’t decline
Now it’s time for you to leave again
And I’m afraid it’s for the last time
Watching fire consume you my tears fall
Knowing you’ve chosen this for your home
Now your image is no longer present
I’ve awakened to find myself alone
