Christmas Blue

I’ve built a snowman
Grand and tall
Put on him your hat
That I gave you last fall

Then a thought came
Into my head
Not my best
If truth be said

I got your coat
And one of your pipes
A pair of your boots
Your muffler for cold nights

I dressed my snowman
To look like you
Now I’m sitting here
Cold and blue

He has no arms
To hold me tight
His eyes are coal
No soul in sight

There’s no warmth
From his smile
He can only stay
A little while

I know you’re needed
To help fight this war
And God forgive me
For wanting more

I just had a bit
Of Christmas blue
