Pondering Questions

Have you ever sat down
Took up paper and pen
To write it all down and
Had to start again and again

Have you ever felt insentient
With that awful emptiness inside
Have you ever had those moments
Where every part of you cried

Have you ever been claustrophobic
As walls continue to close in
At what point in your life
Did you turn back to Jesus again

Everyone must have a button
That if it's pushed hard enough
They'll bend their knees to Jesus
But only when life gets tough

Have you ever smiled at a butterfly
Or simply enjoyed the warmth of the sun
Have you ever gave your last dollar
And realized how rich you've become

These are some things I'm pondering
There are always such questions in my head
I feel a hand guiding mine to write them
A must before I go to my lonely bed

I wonder how you'll answer each
Or if you'll take time to do so at all
So much more is in my heart and head
As I answer the demanding writer's call
