In Memory of a Cutter

A hush fell over the crowd
as he strumed the first cord.
You could have heard a pin drop
so intensely the audience listened.

The song told of unbearable pain.
His tale was one so sorrowful we wept.
His guitar and voice were as one,
pleading for an end, and understanding

Words came in third person voice
No one guessed the song was his
I alone knew of the deep scars
covered by long plaid sleeves

Never have I felt so helpless
as when the final cord sounded
His song had come to it's end-
and his guitar is forever silenced
