Cute Snake
She had gone on a date
With the cute guy from her class
All the girls envied her luck
He was considered quite a catch
They had gone to dinner
And then on to the dance
He wouldn’t quit touching her
He did so with every chance
Her date had began drinking
She asked to be taken home
He seemed more then willing
Just wanting to get her alone
The weather had turned ugly
The promised storm had arrived
He ushered her into the car
Like a gentleman so polite
Traveling on the Old Forest Road
He pulled the car over and parked
He then grabbed and kissed her
His hands roaming near her heart
Telling him to stop was useless
He just didn’t seem to hear
She pushed, hit, and begged
As what he was after was clear
As his hands became cruel
She pretended to give in
Then catching him off guard
She pushed with all her strength
As he fell against the driver’s door
She opened hers and jumped out
Seeing she had to escape him
Knowing the forest the only way
Running through the forest
With rain kissed cheeks
She heard the boom of thunder
And the crackle of lightening
She wished to lose herself
Amongst the wild vegetation
It would be better then
The man with snake like hands
Branches slapped at her body
As she ran this way and that
Tripping over logs and vines
Her summer dress ripped and torn
Braving a look behind her
She holds her breath a moment
And hears the thrashing of
Someone running quickly behind her
Eyes large in a frightened face
Looking for any place to hide
Shoes lost, feet bloody, and tired
She sinks to the forest floor
Knowing soon he would find her
She cries out the Lord’s name
Begging Him for intervention
Thanking Him in her next breath
Looking up towards the heavens
Through branches big and small
An idea came to her mind
And quickly she put it into play
Climbing up into the trees arms
It’s leaves hindering her invisible
She silently watched as he ran by
The man with snake like hands
Praising God under her breath
She climbs quickly down the tree
And runs back in the direction
From whence she had started
Spying the man’s bright blue sedan
She plunged out of the dark forest
The rain and wind nearly blinding her
She headed towards the big car
Fighting against the elements
She at last reached the car
Praying as she tried the driver’s door
Tears left trails on mud caked cheeks
As the door swung open wide
A smile lighted her pale features
Collapsing on the front seat
She pulled the door closed
Seeing the keys in the ignition
Her heart begins to hope
Sitting up she turned the key
And heard the engine roar
Putting the car into gear
She turned on the windshield wipers
And saw the man running fast
Coming angrily in her direction
Stepping hard on the gas pedal
The sedan shot forward sharply
Looking in the rear view mirror
She left her tormentor far behind
